To me, the final battle is more about Harry figuring out Dumbledore's plan, and the rest of the fight is merely a backdrop to that. They start out at their house in London, pull a caper, then just hide out until they figure out Dumbledore's clues, and otherwise they just visit their schoolmate's houses, visit Diagon Alley, then head back to Hogwarts.
